Hockey
Girls Varsity
The Girls Varsity Hockey team once again looks to continue building their program. With returning head coach Erin Stoney and a new schedule, the girls will look to elbow their way into a leading position in their conference come the end of the season. Despite departures from nine graduated seniors, the girls replenished their roster with new talent and grit, and are ready for a long season ahead.
Boys Varsity
The Boys Varsity Hockey team also faces the challenge of filling up a smaller roster. Without numerous skilled players who graduated last year, both the offensive and defensive lines look to rebuild. Although they are not the same team they were in previous years, the return of many dedicated players combined with new additions will prime the team for progress throughout the season.
Boys Prep
Coming off a 4-0 championship win in the CCM World Invite tournament against Team Illinois’ U18 Team during the weekend of November 8, Boys Prep Hockey looks promising entering into the MPHL season (Midwestern Prep Hockey League). With their first weekend of MPHL games beginning November 14, the skilled and deep roster of Caxys will look to win the MPHL championship
come February.
Basketball
Girls Varsity
This upcoming season for the Girls Varsity Basketball team strives to be successful, building upon their success last year. With seven home games, six away games and five tournaments, their season is packed. Starting November 17, the Caxys will play in the Vernon Hills Thanksgiving Cougar Classic, which they won last year. Additionally, the girls have the Hill tournament in Pennsylvania, the Libertyville tournament, the Byron MLK tournament and finally the Western Reserve tournament to end their season. Led by four-year varsity player Lindsay Farbman ‘26 and Blanka Devai ‘27, the girls look forward to having a successful season once again.
Boys Varsity
In the past two seasons, the Boys Varsity Basketball team has seen incredible strides towards not only a winning mentality, but a winning season. This year, the team faces a greater challenge, with “a much harder schedule due to their success last year,” according to Varsity player Caden Ye ‘26. With a combination of a few post-grads with plenty of experience and some younger international players who will develop over the years, the roster is hungry for success, which will be helped by their deep bench. Their first big games of the year are during their annual Thanksgiving tournament, in which they look to produce a winning record.
Cheer/Dance
Going into their fourth year as a program at LFA, the ‘Chance’ (Cheer/Dance) team is making big strides in competitions. Beginning this winter season, many of the Caxys on Chance will begin writing, choreographing and performing dances for competitions. Although this will deviate from their typical schedule of performing at home basketball games during halftime and cheering on the sidelines, this new extension to their program will improve their team’s strength and collective growth.
Squash
Entering into another season with high expectations, the Co-Ed Varsity Squash team’s schedule is sure to keep them busy in preparation for their big tournaments in the latter half of their season. With the Midwest Squash Championships, the Chicagoland Squash Team League Championship and the US Squash High School Championships in Philadelphia in late January and early February, early season matchups against schools such as Latin and Lake Forest High School will be integral to the team’s progressive achievements.
Swimming
The Boys Varsity Swimming team looks to continue building upon their record-breaking season last year. Led by Zach Youn ‘26, their first big matchups are against Stevenson and St. Viator at the Tri-Meet matchup on December 5, held at LFA. With a packed schedule against competitive teams such as UHigh, the boys will look to make significant strides come the ISL Championship in early February.
