On Sunday, February 8th, Jake Bobo ’18 helped the Seahawks beat the Patriots 29-13, making him the first Belmont Hill graduate to become a Super Bowl champion. Mr. Butler, who coached him at Belmont Hill, said, “When we had him as a player, he’s the type of athlete you want as a coach, terrific work ethic, ton of talent, and also very intelligent.” In addition to being a standout player on the football field, he was also a vital member of the school’s basketball and track teams. Mr. Butler, who also taught Bobo in chemistry, described him as “an excellent student,” a testament to his well-rounded character.
After graduating from Belmont Hill, Bobo took his talents to Duke, where he spent four years, racking up 1,441 yards as well as becoming third-team All-ACC his senior year. After graduating from Duke, he used his fifth year eligibility to transfer to UCLA, where he caught 57 passes for 817 yards and seven touchdowns. This put him on the radar of many NFL franchises, including the Seahawks, who picked him up as an undrafted free agent. In his rookie season, Bobo burst onto the scene, racking up 19 catches, 196 yards, and three touchdown passes, including an incredible acrobatic catch against the Cardinals that landed him on SportsCenter Top 10.
In the 2025 season, Bobo struggled to stay in the lineup consistently, dealing with a concussion he suffered during preseason before being put back on the injury report again later in the year with a calf injury. However, after only having just two catches during the regular season, Bobo came up clutch in the NFC Championship Game when he caught a 17-yard touchdown pass that helped the team earn its trip to Santa Clara. Despite breaking his hand and getting surgery on it after the NFC Championship Game, just two weeks later, he played in the Super Bowl, where he was on the field for 35 snaps. The Panel congratulates Jake Bobo on becoming a Super Bowl champion!
