Girls Player of the Month: Blanka Devai

Blanka Devai ‘27 has been named Player of the Month for February and March in recognition of her outstanding performance and positive impact on the Girls Varsity Basketball team. This is Devai’s second time receiving the award, highlighting her continued impact on the court. Over the past months, she delivered an impressive 15.4 points, eight rebounds and three steals per game, demonstrating her contribution to the team’s success this season.

Devai’s leadership shows up both on and off the court. She credits her recent success to, “hard work in practice, putting in time with the team and on her own.” “This year, I have been more confident in her skills because of it,” Devai said. She trusts the work she has done, and it shows in her game. Her effort and leadership have been key to the team’s progress this season.

Basketball is not an individual sport, but a team effort. Along with her extra hours in the gym, Devai’s teammates have played a key role in her individual success this season. “They have helped me be successful by encouraging me on and off the court,” Devai said. She adds that this team has felt different from any other team she has been a part of, saying, “it truly feels like a family.”

Devai’s favorite moment of the season was when the team traveled to Philadelphia to compete against nationally ranked players and teams. The trip helped strengthen team chemistry, and it was fun to win and lose as a team, especially against some of the best players in the country. The girls team finished with a record of 12-19.

Boys Player of the Month: Levi Tallos

The Spectator’s February and March Player-of-the-Month is Levi Tallos ‘26. This is Tallos’ second time winning the award, showing the consistency he has kept on the court throughout his LFA basketball career. Tallos has been excellent this season, averaging 22 points, nine rebounds, four assists and 2.5 steals per game.

Tallos arrived at LFA at the beginning of the 2024-25 school year as a junior from Sopron, Hungary. He and his family made a huge sacrifice having their son move halfway across the world just to play basketball here. “I play for them, I want to make them proud…and realize they made the right decision to have me come play here,” Tallos said.

Following just one year at LFA, Tallos has stepped confidently into a leadership role following many senior graduates. Reflecting on his transition, Tallos said, “It was definitely a process…it wasn’t easy but I feel like I came a long way.” This shows the growth and determination he has put into his new role on and off the court.

Tallos credits all of his success on the court to his teammates and coaches. The encouragement both in practice and in the halls that he receives make him become the best player he can be, making the game of basketball come very easy and natural to him.

Senior night was Tallos’ favorite moment of the season. It also had the highest attendance for any of their games this season. “The atmosphere was great,” Tallos said. LFA secured a strong 79-54 victory against Francis Parker, making the night even more memorable.
