The all-school winter play this year was “Cheaters” by Don Zolidis, and it was directed by Mr. DiResta. The play had 22 actors with three girls coming from Winsor to perform in the school-oriented play. The fast-paced satire explores the chaos that results after a group of high school students are caught cheating on a test. The drama follows the math teacher and principal colluding to turn students into snitches against each other, seeking to divide and conquer through fear tactics (threat of withholding diplomas and forfeiting scholarships) and hostile interrogations.

Students in the story’s high school setting respond to the controversy in a number of ways: some attempt to conceal who they are, others get scared, and others even attempt to place the blame on their classmates. The math teacher and the principal are evenly divided; one advocates harsh punishments while the other is more sympathetic to the struggles the students face.

The play performed so well due to exceptional performances from James Keefe ’25, who played Tucker, the know-it-all teacher’s pet, Sebastian Colberg-Reyes ’27, who played one of the teachers, William Achtmeyer ’26, who played the other teacher, and Tommy Folan ’25, who played the class clown, as well as a brilliant tech team that aided the performances.

This was the last Belmont Hill performance for our seniors and I would like to congratulate them on an amazing acting career here at Belmont Hill: Tommy Folan, James Keefe, JP Fernández del Castillo, and Adrian Tan.
