After many years of anticipation for the ending of the Wicked story, it does not disappoint in Wicked: For Good’s opening in theaters on November 21. Under the direction of Jon M. Chu, the success of Wicked Part One continues the Wicked musical’s success in bringing back the love for the classic musical to a new generation.

“Part One” looked at the initial association between the characters of Elphaba and Glinda and their friendship being disrupted by the politics of Oz. However, the movie ended on a dramatic note of the escape by Elphaba. Breaking the musical into two parts was the vision of the makers to “avoid cutting major moments in the story” of the musical.

Wicked: For Good serves as the sequel to the story already introduced by the previous edition in the Oz series. Among the cast of the sequel are artists such as Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. Other actors in the movie cast are Michelle Yeoh, Jonathan Bailey, and Jeff Goldblum. At two hours and 18 minutes, this movie presents its viewers with a long-anticipated ending.

Anticipation for the launch of the movie heightened from last year because the first part of the movie became such a big cultural phenomenon. People cheered for its aesthetic direction and musical numbers in the first part. According to the screenplay authors Stephen Schwartz, Winnie Holzman, Gregory Maguire, and Dana Fox, the sequel allows them to tell the story “of Wicked without rushing what makes Wicked meaningful.” Amid the ongoing response to the recent production of Wicked: For Good, it is expected to draw enthusiastic crowds. Since the beginning of the musical’s two-decade history on Broadway, many audiences have now said goodbye to the world that Oz presents.
