Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) by Mariah Carey

Maybe the more unorthodox choice, compared to All I Want for Christmas, this song is the underdog that will never go out of style. As an encapsulation of early-2000’s holiday movies, the nostalgia makes it one of the best.

Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree by Brenda Lee

Whether in Home Alone (1990), Jingle All The Way (1996), Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1964), or all over your car’s holiday radio stations, this Christmas classic is timeless. This year marks the song’s 70th anniversary since its release, and still no one is ever tired of it.

Released in 2023, Carpenter creates a cheeky and witty, hilarious song about leaving her current boyfriend for Santa Claus. The humor is executed perfectly and the jokey tone is so refreshing to hear again this year, following her breakthrough into true stardom this past spring.

Holly Jolly Christmas by Michael Bublé

Bublé’s signature smooth sound is a great accompaniment to this older classic. His take gives it a certain warmth and charm that not many singers are able to cultivate so easily – and an average listen is just one big hug from Santa himself.

This original performance of this song is a poignant and moving somber masterpiece, and although a magical alternative version — nothing is beating the version of this that has been in every American household for nearly a century.

Blue Christmas by Elvis Presley

The world’s most famous rock-n-roll icon of all time also happens to know how to deliver a faultless, sorrowful, and wistful Christmas tune. This track’s fine and soulful pining is Presley’s secret ingredient that only he knows how to execute so well.
