The Belmont Hill Multicultural Alumni Partnership (MAP) has returned this year and has already begun to host events for the Belmont Hill community and its alumni network. According to Director of Community and Diversity, Mr. Collins ’93, MAP’s primary function is to “give our alumni and our older students opportunities to meet, to share space, to share knowledge, and, for the students, the opportunity to really build their social capital as much as possible.” MAP has already contributed much to the Belmont Hill community through events for multicultural students and alumni, a speaker series, and various other diversity-related initiatives and events.

On campus, MAP is known for its mentorship program, where current students are paired with school alumni at meetings throughout the school year. At these gatherings, students receive career advice, learn about different professions they can pursue after Belmont Hill, and bond with alumni over their shared Belmont Hill experiences.

The annual MAP Alumni Dinner, the program’s headline event, brought together parents, alumni, and board members for an exciting dinner on October 18. Jason Hurd ’90, a founder and longtime supporter of MAP initiatives, was honored with the MAP award for his dedication and service.

The foundation of the MAP program still lies in engaging and connecting with Belmont Hill’s alumni network: “A lot of [interest] right now is student-driven, as in what more we can do with the alumni—recognizing that the alumni are here to help and to provide guidance: How much can we soak up from the resources that are those alumni?”

Mr. Collins emphasized that the mentorship program will continue throughout the year and outlined potential plans for an alumni meetup in Boston and a MAP-sponsored chapel speaker.
